      women should not dress as a man… it is an abomination

      women should wear skirts and dresses and should be modest and clean

        I do suggest that the clothing that “pertains” to men and women is, to a large extent, tied to time and culture.

        Here is a link to a photo of Tongan men. They are certainly not effeminate, but to Western eyes their garment can look like a dress.

        I think you are right, Stewart…back in Bible days, from pictures we have today (who knows how accurate those are!) it seems as both sexes wore long robes…but I’m sure that somehow there was a “distinct” difference in their clothing.

        Here in America and other Western Countries, 100 years ago, there was a distinct difference…Men always wore pants and women always wore dresses/skirts.  But as time has progressed, more and more, the styles are becoming UNI-SEX.  I don’t believe it’s wrong for styles to change over time, but I do believe it’s wrong for men to wear dresses and women to wear pants.  I think that it has become so much a part of our society for women to wear pants, that people don’t think it’s wrong, they have come to think that it is part of our culture….  Kind of like coffee…they don’t see how bad coffee is because it’s so much a part of the American way!  But just because something is common, doesn’t make it right.

        It’s no more right for a woman to wear feminine pants than for a man to wear manly dresses, in my mind. 🙂  I think today people, (most people) would think it very strange for men to be wearing manly dresses…but if they started doing it, in 20 years, most of society would think it’s normal.

        I understand what you are saying…. I was thinking of today’s society here in the US right now.  This are way far away from modest and it seems to be getting worse.

      How old were you when you learned the dress message and started practicing it, Newby? Did you learn it on you own?  Do others in your family or church also practice it?

      Tammy I’ve only been doing this for 9 months.  There is only one other that does this that I know of in this area.  I was shown that passage in the bible (that I posted here), and thought to make a complete change.  In the past, I would wear skirts and dresses only in the summer months.  This was the first winter where I wore them all winter long and was not cold.  I try and tell women to find the right kind of skirt and dress that works for them.  I prefer an A-line skirt so I can move around easy and still do all the things I used to do without a problem.

      I’ve made another switch as well.  All my clothing is natural fiber 95% and up.  I prefer the 100% but sometimes it is hard to come by….  The clothes that touch my body are natural fibers.

      Right now I’m making an adjustment to riding a bike… the long skirts just didn’t work.  So, I’m trying pant/skirt combo  built in and hoping this will work.

      Any suggestions?

        Yes, it does put us in the “minority” for sure!  There are very few in my area as well, who practice dress reform.  I also wear full skirts…I don’t like straight skirts at all…Most of my skirts are about 9″ from the floor….but when I work outside, I wear shorter skirts, that come a couple inches below my knee, and they work well on the bike for me, too.  When I run, I have a long pair of shorts that looks like a skirt…that comes almost to my knees.  There are really very few things that I cannot do in a skirt.  I’m so thankful for the dress message…

      Everywhere the Amish/ Mennonites/ similar go on earth,  MODESTLY,   they DO NOT

      try to adapt to the sinful world culture.   NEITHER should ANY believer. (it is a shame and disgrace and unrighteous to sin, and worse to willingly cause others to sin instead of obeying Jesus).

      This DIVIDES the TRUE followers of Jesus, HIS SHEEP,  from the goats.   His sheep obey Him,  and not the idols of culture or idols of country or any idols.

      As He Himself Notes Directly,  yes,  it is rare to find anyone obedient.

      Still,  it is required.

      SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM

      and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

      Always,  every day alive.
